Ottawa Community Arts Council Mission Statement:
The mission of the Ottawa Community Arts Council (OCAC) is to advocate for and support the arts for the enrichment of the community.
The Ottawa Community Arts Council has been the official arts organization for Ottawa and Franklin County for over 30 years. Activities of the Arts Council and other arts programs are located in the beautiful Carnegie Cultural Center, a National Register-listed building owned by the City of Ottawa. The Carnegie Cultural Center, 501 S. Main Street, is not only home to the OCAC, but also the Ottawa Art Guild, ACT Ottawa and the Ottawa Suzuki Strings.
OCAC programming reaches audiences of all ages, with particular focus on children, adolescents and young adults. Activities include art classes, an annual Franklin County School Kids Art exhibit in March, At-risk students after-school programming (in collaboration with USD 290), an Art Gallery of selected monthly exhibitions, Summer Art Camp, Gift Shop (art supplies are available) and a new arts-based Preschool, KidsmART. KidsmART curriculum includes creative, hands-on activities that develop self-expression such as Pilates, tumbling, music, Spanish, visual arts, and storytelling.
Ottawa's Carnegie Cultural Center is central to showcase, house and promote the arts in our community.
